I'm looking at changing my laccy again, not happy with it ( I don't mean its not coming out often enough ;D) I've got 1. Black hydro 1. White hydro 1. Pink Drennan bungee 1. Yellow Drennan bungee 1. Green Drennan bungee 1. 14s maver latex Thinking of giving the Preston hollow stuff ago in a couple of kit. Is anyone using it, what do you think. Which should I try and which should I replace. cheers

john when i brought me new pole i used the maver latex first. was good dn't get me wrong but i now dn't think its as soft as bungee like in heavyer sizes. summer ok cus need strongish laccy with bit of softness.
now using bungee. this time i haven't filled it with water and think its brill. just put the green in 1 of me tops and used it this sunday and i was quite impressed with it.
i'd stick with the bungee john and get rid of u're hydro and latex. also how long u're bungee been in u're top kits?

If my elastics are worn out after just 5 months of possible use then i would not be replacing them with the same make. One of the justifications for fitting hydro or Hollow elastics is that they last longer. I have had Maver 12-20 in over two years and no signs of wear and it will handle fish from ounces through to 12lb lumps. It does tend to stretch a bit on the bigger fish but then I never feel that am going to loose a fish because of it. I have also tried Fox hollow core but did not rate it as it soon scuffed up around the stonfo connector. Maver latex is my prefered alternative to the Maver Hollow core.

John in what way are you not happy with them? it would help to understand your problem, I know that a few of the lads in our club are using the Prestons hollow core and seem satisfied with it. I have found that despite pre stretching my elastics they still need to be bottomed out a few times before they seem to work properly and need an adjustment or two to get them right. Cutting well back is also important even to the extent of removing the the first section of a match top three when fitting larger elastics.

hi john, it is not the right time of year to start messing about with elastic,i did the same last winter(did my head in) elastic does not work as well when cold.I did however like the preston (think it was green) the lightest one they do , for f1 fishing.

I agree with the Preston H9 for F1's (tourquise) The green H11 is better when the fish are going over the 1.5lb mark, might just be a bit too much though for the smaller F1's under 1lb.
I found the Preston a bit more controllable than the bungees in similar sizes when the unexpected bigger fish comes in, though the bungees are great when the fish are a bit slower in colder weather when it is vital not to bump anything.
Must admit not used the white or blue hydro at all and only used the black and red in 1 kit each, prefer the Preston hollow core.
