just because people spend £2000 on a pole does not mean it will do all kinds of fishing. spend £25,000 on a audi tt, and it won't do the same thing as a range rover. poles are along the same lines, the more you spend on one, the weaker it gets...FACT. having worked in the trade for over 12 years there is not a true carping pole for £2000, yes they will handle bigger elastics, do you cannot put the same pressure on a fish using on as you could with a margin pole, simply because of the matriels used. cheaper poles ie: the old jurassic from maver used 'windcore' this is heavy but unbelivably strong. you could not put this into a long pole because of balance etc. plus cheaper margin/carpin poles will handle the odd knock simply because of the wall thickness, if you knock a £2000 pole it won't be long before it folds on you. remember....poles were never designed to fish for carp.
