I was gonna ask the same question for a m8-o-mine, and, is it worth the money?. Can you give us the lowdown Steve?.

I think Steve is on the festivals at Whiteacres, so he may not be on here for a week or so

The graphics for each model are different on the butt section ( only the word pro added though )?? The 'Pro Model' come with 3 match kits but it's about £200 more, - i think !!

Have in front of me the new Shimano 2006 catalogue.
Beast Master XTA Pro Competition. The Pro series has been introduced in answer to requests from Beast Master fanatics who crave for an ultra stiff and lighter power tool.Mixing XT 100 Biofibre offered us the opportunity to reduce weight over the XTA version.Pick one up and you will notice immediately the rigity in combination with fine balance. The large bore tips means little or no cutting back required for elastication.
length 16m weight 1380g Offer price £849.00. pack includes2xpower kits, 1 x cupping kit.2 x Match kits 1 x power no 5, holdall.
Beast Master XTA Competition. The Beast Master XTA is the successor to one of Shimanos top selling polesever.Lighter and stiffer it now incorporates the Shimano Tip Saving System. With standard non-hollow elastics up to grade 14/16 it means you buy 16m and fish 16m.(this is the part I like) Designed in conjunction with Steve Ringer -carp match man supreme with Fish O Mania and Pardean Masters titles to his name you would expect the XTA to be a polished peformeron managed still waters, and it doesn't disappoint.Don't think this pole is just about brute strength. It carries a match top 2 the same length as a standard top three and can be used in total confidence on rivers and canals.
16m weight 1562 g.
16m pack includes 3 x power kits,1 x power No 5,1 x cupping kit 2.hold all, Offer price £699.
So there you have it right from the book.

The pro is indeed a totally different pole to the XTA, the pro is stiffer and more responsive but still strong enough to be an allrounder.
