hi fred i used a mixture of washing liquid and pole lube yesterday....it worked fine on the elastic ....thanks guys for the tips.. ...i did have ice form on the end of my pole as the elastic went back into it .... ...but it didnt really interfere at all and i would just dip the tip into the water to get it off....i check my elastics today too and they were fine....no frays or tears on them....it was really cold there yesterday too....so i think i have it sorted....now to try and see about landing all the fish we hook is the next prob.... ....they are real animals there when you hook them....and some go well into the 20lb range....

hi Marthyn i have used red hydro in a browning black magic and a daiwa matchwinner....tried it both loose and set tight....tight results in hook pulls or breakages...loose results in the fish heading off to the 3rd anglers swim downstream.... ...the last 2 times i have used preston solid elastic 16 and 14 thru the top 4's and it seems to be working a little better....these fish here dont slow down in the cold weather at all and there are some bigs ones in it....we usally get a few doubles and some carp guys have been getting the out in the low 30's there too.... will keep trying anyway...thanks

Can you realistically expect to land carp that go to 30+lb on the pole, especially as its moving water which gives them added fight, your photos dont tell us how fast it moves. I would have thought that landing anything over 15lb was a bonus, Have you considered a margin pole which would go up to a 20 elastic or maybe greater, the top kits tend to be cheaper so not too bad in the event of a breakage maybe a bit restricted in length but one or two are available at 10metre.

i think power gum may be asking for trouble but if you have got a really strong pole or margin pole double up some black hydro or something like that. but if u want to get these munters in i dont think the pole is the best option. munter kit on the feeder over pole line maybe worth a shot

hi guys yup i think the 30 pounders on the pole are out of the question ... ...i have landed a good few 20's up to 25 lbs on it ....we use the feeder sometimes but some of the pegs are snaggy on the bottom and we seem to be waiting longer for bites too....i am looking into getting a cheap margin pole shipped over ....i was looking at some of the preston and browning ones....which ones would you recomend ...? am looking to spend between 100 to 200 pounds....?

Hello matchanglingdausa, Diawa do a 'yank and bank '8m margin pole for £105 pounds that could stop a steam train, rated 20+.Just make sure you strap yourself to the nearest tree before you use it ;DEver thought of using a carp bolo rod probably safer all round and may stand a chance of getting a few out with out costly brakages.Bought them out over here some time ago don't think they really caught on that much ,so you may pick one up for the right price :)Best of luck.

I have the Browning Aggressor which I reckon you could stand on, although I dont think it is stiffest on the market with an extension to 8 1/2 mtr and a spare top you should pick one up for £110. The Lucifer looks to be a lot stiffer and is reputably unbreakable.
