Adroit AC kicked off their 2003 season with the 1st bye match on A+B sections of the BAA's River Salwarpe on Saturday March 8th. The river was rising and was an orangey tea colour, but myself and pegging out partners Roy & Gav traipsed through some of the thickest mud you've ever seen and put 19 pegs in. I must admit that I was gobsmacked when my pre match prediction that everyone would blank went crashing, when on my 1st cast an eel ambushed my feeder fished double flouro pinkie. Unfortunateley that was the end of the action and after 2.5 hours the bank walkers were telling me I would win the match, half hour later with my brolly having blown inside out and the river still rising I transferred my gear to the car. Andy Peters persevered and took 2 roach,1 on the head of a lob on pole feeder,1 on maggot feeder to record his 1st victory in an Adroit AC match. Full Result 1 ANDY PETERS 0-9-8 2 JOHN RIGBY 0-9-4 I eel on maggot feeder 3 MARK CAUSER 0-6-4 4 DAVE MORRIS 0-0-4 1 roach 15 blanked, but did accumulate lots of mud!

Yes EJ, I was pleased to frame ;D and get my season off to a good start. It was quite bizarre to be fishing our 1st match of the season on what was effectively the last full weekend of the river season.

;D Marc, you seem to get all the good venues, was this on par with your visit to the GU canal at Shrewley. You also seem to pick the weather to, let me know your other match dates so i can check if any of yours clash with mine and ill pack my brolly and full waterproofs. You may have framed but i still think Roy's the dark horse. See you soon ( Steve L )

Hi Steve, Roy booked the Salwarpe and the rest of this seasons venues apart from Makins. On paper they're all good venues but we can't be held responsible for the weather. It was young Ben's 1st club match and he persevered to the end, unlike some more senior members and with only 4 catching it's a good start in the aggregate. EJR worm is the bait for zander on the GU. 2 small zander were caught on the Hatton stretch yesterday. ;D ;D ;D

I thought my ears were burning! Yes, I booked it. But I had a 'tip off' . Someone said that when the Severn floods all the fish take shelter in th Salwarpe. Well they did, both of them, along with two eels. Never mind we'll be back there again in October with WGAC,- can't wait! Nice to hear from you Steve, but as far as 'Dark horses' go you'd be better off with your money on 'Red Rum' or 'Shergar', if current form is anything to go by. ;D ;D. Staffs/Worcs canal on Sunday, another blank definitely on the cards. Any tips Steve? see you soon, Roy.
