Here are the results from todays match 1st Matt6900. 85lb 12oz 2nd Pete Mase 58lb 6oz section 3rd Ian 49lb 8oz section 4th royst 39lb 8oz 5th steve & polepot 24lb 10oz 7th kingfisher 21lb 8oz 8th markc 20lb 10oz total weight caught out of 8 anglers 324lb 5oz an average of 40lb per person so 8 of us turned up for todays knock up and on arriving at manor there was a cold wind blowing across the island pool. so i decided to peg us along the calmer side of the pool out of the wind... once i arrived at my end peg i decided to fish two lines one at 6metres and one at 11m incase the fish had really backed off.. i started the match by cupping in half a pot of 4mm pellets on each line then started on the 6metre line with 6mm pellet on the hook and was into a fish straight away. i was just topping up with 12 or so pellets after every fish but i soon realised the fish wanted more so i upped it to about 25 pellets every put in and this seemed to work much better, i only tried the long line once during the match i had 3 quick fish on it then it died and i just stuck to the 6metre line.. i did have a couple of put ins at 4metres where i took a total of 9 fish but they wasnt close in any numberS.. i fed a total of 3pints of pellet. and ended up with 105 fish for 85lb.. well thats how my day went and i hope everyone enjoyed themselves

Well done Matt, an emphatic victory. Enjoyable but frustrating day for me, with a bite virtually every put in, but I was not able to convert them into fish in the net

What can I say, WHO PINCHED MY END PEG? . I just looked for a decent depth, found that at 9 meters, put a pot of 4mm's in and went over the top with a 4mm expander............................................................................................................nothing, fired a few in with the catty.................a liner ............ then , a sail away , my black hydro stretched out towards markc next door, 60 seconds later a foul hooked f1 was in the net . Rebaited, 20 pellets in the pot, shipped out, fed,. bite, struck, f1, hooked in the mouth ;D. Retraced my steps, missed a bite, more liners, struck, foul hooked another in the flipper . Went back out, fed, swirls and liners, cupped water in, liners and fiz. Shallow rig, 2ft deep (we are now 3 hrs into the match with 3 fish in 2 nets ). Dropped my shallow rig in with a banded pellet, 1 cup of water = 1xf1. Next drop same result (yes we're in ). Not quite. That was how it went for the next hour, 2 fish then nowt but silly bites and lost fish. Changed hooks and laccy's, every time I made a change I'd get a couple then back to missed bites and lost fish. The last hour slowed down a bit , just the 1 fish then the messing about. All in all, a quite frustrating day, set out at 6.30am, not really a good days fishing, then LOADSA traffic on the way home, walked through the front door at 7pm (good breakfast though ). I blame Malc for threatening to come, even though he wasnt there in body, the JINX was there in spirit, the coldest day of the year, rain, fish all over the place that didn't want to be caught, need I say more . But seriously, great to see everyone again, John, Roy, Mark, Matt, (smiler)Steve, and a couple of new faces. Thanks Matt for arranging the match and giving us the chance of fishing a top pool. My mate can't wait til you sort one out for next summer

Or less likely in the case of myself because of my weekend club commitments and I believe Neil, Matt.

Well done Matt, good victory. I made the mistake of fishing a short line for too long and really struggled for the first two hours. As soon as I went out to 11m it was solid, and when I went shallower it was even 'solider' ;D I always say 'stick to what your best at' and if I had fished long and shallow from the 'off' probably would have done much better. It was so cold at the start though that I didn't think fish would be 'up in the water' in any great numbers.... but they were. Anyway, I had a great day, and it was nice to meet up with everyone. Looking forward to the next one, Royst.

it could of been worst i could of spread us round the whole lake and then you could of been faced with a cold wind in ur face all day ;D i was considering taking my waterproof's off i was soo warm, but i would of just been soaked at the end of it with all that bagging.. i just fished how i said i would and luckily i didnt have to change much apart from the feeding every now and again.. i fished a 4x14 chianti 0.15mm powerline and a 14 b911. bulk 8inch from hook no droppers in 4ft of water. if you allow for my platform being 1metre out in the water i was actually fishing 7metres from the concrete peg.. thats why my pole might of seemed longer mark ;D
