15 anglers turned up for the penultimate round of the nine match series. Shortly after the 'all in' the heavens opened and the wind gusted, making the long pole difficult. With most anglers opting for a short line or down the track approach it was Mark Causer, who made the most of an end peg draw to steal the honours. Mark alternated 2 lines, breadpunch and chopped worm, and it was the chopped worm line which proved most bountiful, yeilding several large perch for a match winning 6-10-08 and new club record for the 'cut'. 1st Mark Causer (Markc) 6-10-08 2nd Andy Peters (Portway) 4-05-12 3rd John Snape 3-12-04 on the waggler 4th Mick Edwards 3-01-04 5th Paul Slater 3-00-04 6th= Ben Taylor (brandling) 2-12-04 6th= Roy Ravenhill (Royst) 2-12-04 Markc now holds both the club canal and river records, but not the lake record. ;D ;D ;D Final deciding match for the aggregate is at Greenhills with Andy leading the way from Royst in 2nd.

Thanks Eric. My river record has stood for over 10 years & we don't fish cuts too often so that one may also last a while as well ;D As for the lake record, thats got to be my target for a hat trick. Surprisingly meat shallow was not the tactic that set the record Although he did use what amounts to a shallow meat rig in the MARGINS ;D ;D. 111 LB something is the current benchmark, indeed set by Roysty Meat shallow combined with an "End Peg" has allowed him to rock his own record on more than one occassion ;D ;D ;D

Andy, I think we will have a good turnout for the Greenhills match, likely to be around 20, and we dont want to put too many at the shallow end, so I guess there wont be much room for guests. Any up to date info, much appreciated ;)but obviously dont tell Markc ;D ;D ;D ...........and 016 on the cut , I would never go that low ;D ;D ;D

Fished old pool yesterday, nasty day very windy but rain kept off for most of the match.Hard fishing only won with 39lb.Myself struggled for first 2 1/2 hours only had 4 fish in net, then tried some mouldy bait found in the bottom of bag and bingo 36 1/2 lb for 3rd and I lost 5/6 good fish.
It was legal bait
