12 members ( :(50%) and one guest turned out for the first match of the 2006 campaign. The match originally planned for the river trent was moved to the cut due to high levels. The members who bothered to turn up were faced with temperatures just above zero and snow showers throughout most of the day. The sky was overcast and the water had a nice colour, so prospects looked good. The match started well with most anglers catching form the 'off' on the 'punch' or pinkie. As the match went on the bites slowed down, and it looked more like a bonus fish would be required to steal the honours. And so it was with new member John Beasley including some nice bonus perch in his mixed winning bag. John also scooped the £140 bonus peg. 1st John Beasley 2-11-12 2nd Andy Peters (portway) 1-13-08 3rd Ron Butler 1-06-08 another new member in the frame ;D 4th Roy Ravenhill (Royst) 1-02-12 5th Bob Moorman 0-15-04 6th Mark Causer (Markc) 0-13-00 7th Mark Bennett (Poolsfodder) 0-11-08

Hats off to you guys , turning out in such awful weather . I planned to fish another open @ Hampton Springs but decided a warm bed & the first Formula1 race of the season on the Tv was a far more comfortable option.
