Hi everyone, i'm going to be visiting castle ashby in a couple of weeks for the first time, i think we are fishing on grendon. Does anyone have any top tips on methods, bait etc at this time of the year? Would silvers or carp be a more viable option? Cheers guys ;D ;D ;D

Nutty!! You need the weather to warm up. there have been loads of little carp put in the grendon where as the biger fish have been put into the scotland. Straight lead and meat is worth a try, but method feeder will prob be the best approach as the little ones get caught on this too. Waggler and pellet is worth a look too fished as far out as you can fish it comfortably!

Thanks for the info carpmagic, having never been there before, i presume from your reply that grendon is more of a normal lake than a canalized water. therefore, at this time of year do you think a running line would be more effective than the pole? Cheers ;D

yeah it is a big lake, no islands. As a rule you want to be in the middle of the lake in the widest part. The fish dont normally come into pole range until summer so stay on waggler if on the float. Used to fish it a lot but hav'nt been for a while but do try and keep up with how its fishing. Will find out what i can, how long before you go now?

Malc! It will be hard, as i said before if you have pick of pegs get downt the bottom end in the wider part of the lake. Start on the lead with either meat or corn on a longish 2ft plus tail. Tubes of meat say largest size korum punch, mite be worth flavouring a few up with activ 8 or somethhing like that, just to be different. You wanna be chucking down the middle of the lake. Hope that helps.
