hi guys well our first winter league match started today....only 4 anglers fished... it was a little on the chilly side... ;D....temps were in the high 20's (farenht),a few snow flurries, but little wind.....we fished a different stretch than the last match 2 weeks ago and it is a bit further downstream from the warm water discharge...it didnt fish as good as the other venue and we realised after the match the water was a lot cooler there in this stretch today...carp and a few gobys were caught...alot of fish were hooked and lost again... ...again the average size carp was 9 lbs....although the winner's first 3 fish totalled 46lbs...well done Max.... photobucket.com/albums/d136/irishangler/winter%20league%20leg%201dec%2011th/?1st Max F. 61lbs 2 ozs (bolo and feeder, corn) peg 4 (1 point) 2nd Dara F 28 lbs 9 ozs (pole, corn and maggot) peg 2 (2 points) 3rd Paul W 18 lbs 10 ozs (pole and feeder, corn) peg 3 (3 points) 4th Bob A 8 ozs (feeder and whip) peg 1 (4 points) the next match is jan 15th and venue TBA ....we are moving the draw time back to 9 45 am and fishing 11 to 2:15......

hi guys there is some fantastic fishing over here...alot of venues are carp dominated thou and they are all wild fish....but are almost in every pond ,lake and river here we also fish for bluegills/sunfish which are everywhere and weights of 40 to 50 lbs are common with fish from 1ozs to 10 ozs, there are also catfish, roach, perch, bass, some venues have large goldfish and all sorts of hybrids, grass carp and suckers....which are very much like a barbel match fishing is starting to grow here and new clubs and starting up all over...we have formed a new American Match Fishing Assoc (AMFA) here this year and are setting up some leagues and a few opens so it should start getting better and more organised.... there are some great venues all around the chicago area...our winter league is a new thing this year as most of the lakes freeze over till feb/march but we found the river has some hot water discharges so it fishes all year round....we have ano winter league match this sun 15th and found a new stretch of the river with 25 pegs on it so i will send you all a report early next week on how it fishes for us
