Thought I would give myself a treat and bought the Maver Medusa - personally not impressed! Seems sloppy and very heavy at 16m. Anybody else got one?

Not got one but have been looking around, is it the newer J type or the previous model?

Has anyone tried the fast taper section on the Medusa yet - it could solve the problem.

Show me a pole that is not heavy and sloppy @ 16m apart from the obvious. i.e Spectron ( Not the Badger model) ;D

ive got a maver respect. this was the one up from the medusa when they came out. i dont think they sold many as they have stopped selling them. i think it is great for a £1000 pole. im not the strongest of 16 year olds but i love it and can hold it comfortably.

i have got a medusa i agree that the pole can be a bit sloppy above 13mts but for the price it is a bloody good pole i only use it for commercial pools and found it better than most so called carp poles on the market.as for rivers and canals i find it is not the best and i am looking for a pole that can cope ie a match pole not a cruncher nice and light with a elastic rating of about 8---10 any thoughts??

´Come on, this is a £700 pole at 16m! What pole that price isnt going to go at 16? This pole has been one of mavers best selling for 3 years now, and its still better than what most other companies are bring out onto the market. ;D Its a great value pole. ;D If you want a 16meter thats usable for 5 hours without floating, then you need a Spectron or a J51.

Tried this pole last weekend with the "stiff" section, and it was great at 16M, it was fishable but one thing I did notice was the diameter of the butt section, also cut myself when shipping back, took the skin off my finger

The real plus point with this pole is the price of replacement sections even the dearest joint 13mtr is only £90 to replace the drennan universal carp top two's fit it perfectly at £29 each and are even stronger than the maver one's, spoke to Peter Kay at fishermans cabin about the medussa he wins more than his fair share of matches and reckons it's the best carp pole on the market at the price. Ok I have a spectron but don't want to use it at out and out bagging venues, the medussa is a very good pole which is why it has sold so many.

I have used the Medusa since last year and was not initially impressed - it was very heavy and sloppy at 16 mtrs. I now use it at 14.5 maximum and have begun to appreciate how good it really is, it handles carp well into double figures, (biggest 18) and as long as it is used within its capabilities it is an impressive pole - and you are right spares are realistically priced. I tend to float it at 16mtrs and this is the only time that I now use it at full length.

The spares price really does help, people do tend to forget and hope that sections never get broken but as I found out last year at Whiteacres it can get expensive. I lost 7 & 8 & a top 3 (wind took them in the lake) for a £499 pole and it would have cost around £260 to replace them .
