Hi guys
here are the results for the final leg for the Wacker Baits winter league (www.wackerbaits.com) fished on Sat 25th feb on the Chicago river......The river fished ok considering it was 25 degrees farinht (-3.c.) at the all in.... .... and felt a lot colder with the sharp breeze blowing downstream for most of the match....the carp seemed to hold up in pockets on the river and just feed on and off in spells but there was also a good few bluegills caught too and some decent weights...new comer to our matches and local young angler 17 year old George Watford had a great start to his first match, drawing peg no. 1 and winning with 8 carp for 74 lbs 7 ozs on all the feeder and corn, well done! , Dara was second on peg 6 with 3 carp and 7lbs of bluegills for 45 lbs 6 ozs all on the pole with maggot or pellet, and Paul Wells was 3rd with 1 carp and bluegills for 16 lbs 4 ozs on the pole with corn and maggot...

A total weight of 512 lbs of fish was caught over the 5 matches for the league by an average of 5 anglers for each match....not bad fishing for the middle of winter on the Chicago river.... thanks to all the anglers who turned out on some cold days to fish this league and to those who fished a few matches with us on the day as an open section...we would all like to thank Paul Pezalla from Wacker Baits for his generous sponsership for prizes for the league and also to Dale Bowman from the Chicago Sun Times newspaper who came out with us for a match to write an article on Match fishing here in the USA to help us promote it some more and on the quaility of fishing on the river itself in Chicago...
We will be having a friendly match in 2 weeks time (Sun.,March 12th) on the river again ....Venue is TBA and depends on numbers of anglers fishing...email me at daraconstruction@hotmail.com if interested or want to reserve a peg...
