hmm. I like a lot of stretches in loughborough, very fair and even, which I think makes them good stretches. If you aint any good you'll catch naff all. Very few jammy bonus fish pegs! Pillings lock and bishops meadow are good sections. Although the latter has an animal peg at the end. I drew it once. And framed. Must be stuffed! ;D North Kilworth section in Leics is good, around 10lb of skimmers needed to win in the summer. You have to be really really good to catch that much there though. particularly 10 - 8 - 0 for that years match record.... LOL! I can categorically state that it is NOT in selly oak tho!

A fair match stretch has to be The Tyburn to Minworth on the Fazeley Canal not the most scenic stretch, with a cafe in the middle and a pub at either end who could ask for more.

The best bit is in Swindon. They filled it in and painted a white line down the middle!!!!

;D ;D ;D Nice one Fred
Brian, I would be frightened to fish that stretch by the Tyburn for fear of getting mugged. Would need Andy222 with me to frighten them off. ;D ;D ;D

Glad I did not suggest the same canal down at Spaghetti Junction or the Grand Union down in Small Heath, I have fished the fazeley several times and no problem other than the normal walkers, joggers, cyclists and dogs mind you I do normally go down to the Hare and Hounds, you do have to watch out for the under 5s at the Wacky wharehouse tho. ;D ;D ;D

I used to fish the GU at Rowington, and it was really good but from what I hear it has declined over the past few years.

Brian G should try fishing his own clubs canal. Look at B'ham Civil Service Summer league results last year (around about pages 5/6 of Match Results - 5 matches) We welcome guests on these club matches.Low peg and pool fees!!

John our stretch of canal is poor by comparison with most of the inner city stretches, maybe the cormorants are reluctant to venture to close to the city, but you may yet talk me into fishing one or two the summer league ;D ;D ;D

Best for what though? Matches? Specimen fish? Boats? Dog cr*p?! Muggings?!
Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union - very fair match water.
Three Locks on the Grand Union - another fair water. Plenty of squatt fish, a fair number of caster fish and a few lumps too.
Lady Capels, GU again. Some nice big chub there especially above the M25 bridge. But then there they're all along the Watford stretches.
Northchurch on the GU for a pleasure session. There's a good shoal of bream on the bend opposite the Scout hut. Drew just off them once in a winter league and came 2nd in section and 3rd overall. A nice pay day. Was well happy.
Denham on the GU for bl**dy enormous carp. 40lb plus fish are in there.
Regents canal - for dog cr*p, muggings, dope and crack-heads although you can't weigh them in even if you fish them out!

the staffs & worces canal around penkridge i would say overall. it may not be fishing that well at the moment but it will. the cross keys stretch i think is the best squat venue in the midlands
