OK this Intersite is meant to be spread across the land!? Taking Birmingham as a central point (roughly center and easy access to anywhere) I`ve just been on www.maporama.com/ and done a few calculations. Birmingham – Sessay – 146.7 miles Birmingham – Aldershot – 131.7 miles Birmingham – Norwich – 154.5 miles Birmingham – Swansea – 136.3 miles These seem to me fairly spread out. By the way Aldershot to Devizes is only 62.7 miles. So in my books that makes them both Southern venues. Please feel free to discuss/moan.I`m ready for whatever you want to throw my way

As you correctly point out WCA Birmingham is the central point which is what makes it the most obvious place for matches. . The problem with spreading matches across the land, as you suggest, is that some of the matches will be a 600 mile round for some poor folks, and some teams might end up filled with local ringers. ;D Midland matches would be much better supported. IMO

.....the idea is to give everyone a chance to fish at least one match. Dave those are your words, but the highlighting is mine. I totally agree with what you are saying about giving everyone the opportunity to fish one match, hence they should not all be in the Midlands. But, to fish a match you need competitors and with matches held at the far reaches you dimish the pool of people willing to travel. I would seriously suggest that the waters chosen should be within 2 hours driving time of the Midlands, that way the worst journeys (North to South, East to West and vice versa) will be reduced, although they may still be 4 hours each way. And I do not say that as a TA member or as someone who happens to live in the Midlands at the moment. I say that as a Southerner, who still "measures" things from London because that's what I'm familiar with. With some common sense on the waters booked, the intersite series can be extremely successful, but with waters north of Leeds and in Norwich I can't see the series getting the support it deserves.

STU here`s part of a PM I sent to someone the other day that hopefully we can put into place next year. This year,as time is not on our side we`ll run with what we`ve got.The way I`m thinking takes `doorstep` matches away from most but you must remember that we in the middle of the country get the Midlands leg and the Individual already.
""My plan was to choose a centre spot and draw a circle about 100 miles wide. This way it would cut down some travelling.OK not a lot but compared to previous years an average 80-100 mile round trip. That also means it`s not the ends of the earth ""

White Springs is a round trip of 321 miles for me which is about 100 miles further than i'm prepared to travel . Me thinks that this venue could be a non starter for any of our lads due to the distance / location.

seen as most of our lads are central why dn't we pick a central venue.
then if total-fishing pick another region etc etc
