Dog Lane Fishery Napton Results Saturday 5th Nov 15 pegs 1st Darren Reid Peg 6 (Lime Tree Park AC) 49lb 13oz 2nd Vince Atkins Peg 21 (Rugby Tackle) 13lb 15oz 3rd John Webb Peg 22 (Rugby Tackle) 11lb 3oz Section A Dave Watson Peg 9 (Lime Tree Park AC)8lb 14oz Section B John Stroud Peg 18 (ENCON) 9lb 9oz Section C John Dobbie Peg 19 (Rugby Tackle) 10lb 7oz A wet and windy forcast was not enough to put off the 15 anglers or the sport this week at Dog Lane. First time out at the venue proved a winner for Darren Reid at Peg6 who fished chopped worm on the pole for a match winning 49lb 13oz of mainly Bream and a couple of bonus carp. Second place went to Vince Atkins on Peg 21 who tried every bait in is bag. Alternating between his feeder and pole line Vince put a net of Bream and Stockies together to put 13lb 15oz on the scales to put fellow Rugby Tackle Angler John Webb (peg22) into third Place. John Webb on next peg 22 took an early lead on the far bank pegs using worm and corn but lost contact with the nomadic bream to Vince Atkins, despite this he still put a creditable 11lb 3oz on the scales for third place. Section winners today were: Dave Watson peg9 who had to face not only the strong facing wind but a battering off fellow Lime Tree Club member Darren Reid; John Stroud (ENCON) peg18 who fished at 8m and picked off some fine examples of Dog Lane Bream; John Dobbie peg19 fished the feeder for the first hour and found some stockies to help in his bid to beat the other members of Rugby Tackle, alas, even with a Duck calling to him to keep him from nodding off, the tip just wouldn't go round! Next Saturday the draw will be at 9am at the Kings Head Napton and fishing will be from 10:15am to 3:15am Contact Pete Palmer 07749 225 880

Dog Lane Match Report 12th Nov Napton Warwickshire 12 pegs 1st Martin Paynter (Daventry AC) 16lb 12oz (Pellet and Worm) 2nd Ray Gregory (Daventry AC) 10lb 7oz (Pellet and Worm) 3rd Darren Reid (Lime Tree Park AC) 9lb 7oz (Chop Worm/Maggot) The fish at Dog Lane were happy to be parked up on the Car Park bank as this weeks winner, Martin Paynter (Daventry AC) found out. Being no stranger to the top spot at Dog Lane Martin took advantage of his draw at peg 52, putting together a mixed bag of Silvers with a few carp for good measure, alternating between feeder and pole to weigh in 16lb 12oz. Struggling to find his usual form at the end peg 51, fellow Daventry AC angler Ray (Big Breakfast) Gregory came second with 10lb 7oz of allsorts. Still, he managed to pick up and can afford next weeks Big Breakfast. Last weeks winner Darren Reid still made it into the Limelight with 9lb 7oz from Peg 56 pipping Alec Wilson (Daventry AC) off the next peg by 5oz. Best weight this week on the Dam Wall of 6lb 2oz came from peg 9. Where match organiser Pete Palmer caught on the pole in the final hour after switching to Roach groundbait laced with squatts, fed by hand every put in with fluoro pinkie on the hook taking the better fish. The weather changes over the week clearly taking effect with fewer bream showing but thankfully the roach were more obliging. Next weeks Match will be drawn at 9am at the Kings Head Napton, Fishing 10:15am to 3:15pm. Contact Pete Palmer 07749 225 880

Section A Colin Cherrington Peg53 10lb 14oz Section B Roger Palmer Peg6 5lb 12oz Section C Dave Watson Peg21 9lb Although overnight temperatures plummeted to -8degC this did not deter the hardy souls that fished this week at Dog Lane. Greeted with frost laden banks and dense fog the 16 anglers set about tackling the chilled and flat calm lake, which due to it's size had not succumbed to the ice that it's smaller sister lakes had. The walk to the furthest peg22 this week for Jason Redgrave (Rugby Tackle) was rewarded with first place and a net of Bream and stockies for 19lb 2oz. Jason presented pinkie on the pole at 8 and 13m and the groundbait/feeder at 30m, catching steadily throughout. Also on the far bank pegs but at the other end at Peg16 Geoff Eggison (Lime Tree Park AC) found the Stockies obliging on the feeder and put a respectable 12lb 10oz on the scales for second place. Third place went to Vince Atkinson on the carpark bank peg51 who fished the long pole at 13m adopting similar tactics to his fellow team-mate to finish with 11lb 12oz. Next weeks Match will be Drawn at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:15am to 3:15pm contact Pete Palmer 07749 225 880

Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Sat 3rd Dec 16 pegs 1st John Dobbie (Rugby Tackle) Peg20 32lb 4oz Bream Pole/expander pellet 7m 2nd Colin Cherrington (Allens Tackle) Peg53 26lb 5oz Bream Open-Feeder Red Maggot 3rd Vince Atkinson (Rugby Tackle) Peg18 18lb 3oz Bream & Stockies Pole/Tip Red Maggot The colour returned to the water at Dog Lane this week and with it so did the bream. Rugby Tackle angler John Dobbie (peg20) wasted no time in finding the fish close in at 7m on the pole and fishing expander pellet, his mainly Bream catch weighed in a match winning 32lb 4oz. Colin Cherrington (Allens Tackle) made a repeat visit at the right time and found the Bream he came for at Peg53. Sitting it out on the tip with open feeder and presenting floating red maggot, Colin picked off some fine examples of Dog Lane Bream to weigh in 26lb 5oz for second place. Venue regular Vince Atkinson (Rugby Tackle) decided on a feeder and pole approach this time out and took Bream and small carp to weigh in 18lb 3oz for third place. Maybe next time he'll raid John Dobbies bait box for some of his special expanders. The back up weights started at 16lb down to 7lb for the rest of the field. Next weeks Match will be drawn at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:15am to 3:15pm. Contact Pete Palmer 07749 225 880.

Ray continued in flying form catching 26lb 5oz of mainly Bream, fishing 13m out with red maggot over groundbait. The rest of the field could only sit and watch as his weight built up throughout the match. Opposite bank Peg 21 which last week produced over 30lb gave second place to Andy Wood (Lime Tree Park AC) 6lb 4oz of small stockies. Third place went to John Stroud (Rugby Tackle) who sat on the tip at peg6 and put 5lb 11oz of small stockies in the net after going through 20 f*gs and two flasks in the first two biteless hours. Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Bottom Pool Sat 17th Dec 20 pegs 1st Jason Redgrave (Rugby Tackle) Peg1 31lb 6oz Bream/Carp Pole/Feeder/Maggot 2nd Joan Webb (Rugby Tackle) Peg19 16lb 5oz Bream Feeder/Red Maggot 3rd John Stroud (Rugby Tackle) Peg15 13lb 3oz Carp Pole/Tip Red Maggot The biting North Wind and air temperatures just above freezing did not stop the Rugby Tackle Squad this week as they took all three top spots. In the frame yet again, venue regular Jason Redgrave (Rugby Tackle) drew favoured peg1, facing the island on the Bottom Pool and alternated between the pole and feeder with red maggot. Jason put a fine bag of quality Bream, some over 6lb, on the scales to weigh in 31lb 6oz. Second place went to Joan Webb (Rugby Tackle), peg19, who had tried for the first hour to combat the wind on the pole, then gave in and stayed with the tip to the end of the match and weighed 16lb 5oz of bream. Not to be out done by fellow squad members John (slow hand) Stroud on peg 15, facing the back of the island, went for the carp on the feeder and pole from the start losing three match winning fish at the net. Better Luck next time John! Section winners this week were: Section A Dave West (Total-Fishingclub.com) peg8 8lb 8oz, consisting of three perch all pushing 2lb. The match was fought out on pegs 6 and 7 where Steve Hatt and Geoff Eggison found it a fish for fish tussle right up to the whistle. Steve Hatt from Banbury (GBG) found his net of silvers (15lb1oz) and his carp of 7lb 11oz 8dr gave him a winning total of 22lb 12oz 8dr. Whilst on Peg 7 Geoff Eggison's net of silvers commanded a respectful 21lb 1oz 8dr, the net contained several perch over 2lb. Third place went to Steve Hatt's fellow team mate from Banbury Jamie Grant who weighed in 15lb 13oz of silvers, 6lb 4oz of which was this (see pic) solid Barbel. Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Middle Pool January 7th 13 pegs 1st Dave West (Sensas Milton Keynes) Peg50 7lb 8oz Carp Bomb/Red Maggot 2nd Geoff Eggison (Lime Tree Park AC) Peg21 3lb 13oz 8dr Carp Feeder/Red Maggot Section A John Dobbie (Rugby Tackle) Peg 51 3lb Bream Section B Jason Redgrave (Rugby Tackle) Peg 9 2lb 6oz Bream Section C Ray Gregory (Castle AC) Peg 19 1lb 13oz 8dr Carp It was a day of famous last words this week, notably from John Dobbie who announced moments before the all in " this rain I can put up with but I don't like fishing in snow." Seconds later the temperature dropped and for the next 2 hours the snow came down making pole fishing a chilling experience. Everyone stuck it out through the blizzard, with bites at a premium and wind temperatures below freezing it was a case of waiting and hoping your choice of tactic would come good. First placed Dave West on Peg 50 had to wait until the final 40 minutes to discover that casting the bomb with red maggot was the way to go on his peg, returning four carp for 7lb 8oz. Second placed Geoff Eggison was creatively casting on peg 21 with a small groundbait feeder and managed to eek out three F1 carp for 3lb 13oz 8dr. Each section winner this week returned one solitary fish each and were glad they hadn't missed their only bite in 5 hours.....Next weeks match will be held on the more sheltered bottom pool. Matches will be held on the Bottom Pool until the end of February 2006 Contact Pete Palmer 07749 225 880. The draw will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:15am to 3:15pm.
