Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Bottom Pool Napton Warwickshire
January 28th
18 pegs
1st Rob Bassett (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg15 18lb 12oz Feeder/Carp Maggot/Corn 2nd Dave Smith (Diawa Dorking) Peg1 14lb 13oz Feeder/Carp Pole/Bream Maggot 3rd Mark Williams (Sensas Starlets) 13lb 6oz Pole/Bream & Roach B&J
Section A: Steve Nichols (Rugby Tackle) peg2 9lb 4oz Feeder/Carp Section B: John Bromley (Jets MG) peg6 8lb 4oz Pole/Roach Sction C: Andy Woods (Lime Tree Park AC) Peg16 11lb 13oz Pole/Mixed Silvers
It was very cold and with wind chill to boot, not a day for the uninsulated or skinny angler..Ice on the more exposed parts of the lake also indicated the quieter areas fish wise. -7 deg C recorded on Thursday and -5deg on Friday..so it was beginning to warm up! Rob Bassett peg15 was one of those insulated anglers who drew on the fish this week, although it took a full 3hrs before he got a take on the feeder chucked to the island. Rob continued on this line to the end of the match as his pole line was not showing any life beneath it, he finally managed to weigh 18lb 12oz of carp and one perch. Dave Smith (Diawa Dorking) Peg1 adopted similar tactics and eased out carp and bream to finish with 14lb 13oz. Mark Williams (Sensas Starlets) was the only angler to attack his peg this week and it nearly paid off, feeding six 'large' balls of joker laced leam at the off he almost succeeded in creating his own feature. Needless to say his swim built up steadily and decent net roach and bream came steadily after two hours, however, using such light elastics proved time consuming and swim disturbing and Mark's final weight was 13lb 6oz. Two notable bags of silvers came from pegs 16 and 6 where Andy Woods and John Bromley were busy all day.
Matches will be held on the Bottom Pool until the 18th of February 2006 Contact Pete Palmer 07749 225 880.
The draw will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:15am to 3:15pm.
No pic this week...who wants to see carp again

Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Bottom Pool Napton Warwickshire February 4th 24 pegs 1st Simon Frankland (Conservative Club Northampton) Peg1 26lb 4oz 8dr Method/Red Maggot/Carp & Pole/Pellett/Bream & Skimmers 2nd Derek Cullip (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg7 16lb 3oz Pole/Caster/ Roach 3rd Tony Hobbs (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg28 13lb 10oz Pole/B & J/Bream & silvers Section A: Rob Bassett (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg4 10lb 4dr Pole/Caster & Maggot/Roach Section B: Dan Grant (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg10 9lb 11oz 8dr Pole/Maggot/Mixed bag Section C: Alan Talbot (Tusses Tackle) Peg17 13lb 4oz Feeder/Corn/Carp & Chub Section D: Dave Smith (Diawa Dorking) Peg27 8lb 4oz 12dr Pole/Chop Worm/ Mixed Bag This week it was the turn of returning Northampton angler Simon Frankland to take advantage of favoured peg 1. From the off Simon fished the method tight to the island to take six carp in the first hour and establish his lead. He also ventured out on the pole line at 13m and fished pellet taking three bream and chub to add to his winning weight of 26lb 4oz 8dr. Derek Cullip kept warm chasing the roach and rudd all day with caster and maggot on peg7 and put a healthy 16lb 3oz on the scales. Tony 'thats my Island' Hobbs gave peg 28 the full Bloodworm and Joker treatment a tactic that came close to doubling the weight of his neighbours, had Dave Smith and Andy Woods either side not fought back with Chop Worm and Groundbait and Caster to take 15lb of fish away from him, he most likely could have won the match. Roach, Chub and Perch figured in most of the section winners nets with the odd Tench or carp giving them hope of framing better. A good turn out, a pleasent and cold day in good company....see you next week. Matches will be held on the Bottom Pool until the 18th of February 2006 Contact Pete Palmer 07749 225 880. From 25th Feb Matches return to the Larger Middle Lake. The draw will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:15am to 3:15pm. www.doglanefishery.co.uk

Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Bottom Pool Napton Warwickshire February 11th 30 pegs 1st Jason Redgrave (Rugby Tackle Peg2 10lb 4oz 12dr Pole/ Corn over pellet/ Bream & Skimmers 2nd Derek Cullip (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg5 10lb 1oz 4dr Pole/Caster & Pinkie/ Roach 3rd Martin Paynter (Daventry AC) Peg1 9lb 14oz 8dr Pole/Red Maggot/ Bream & Roach A maximum turnout in minimum temperatures this week at Dog Lanes' Bottom Pool, with the whole lake frozen to an inch thick it was icebreaker time. The framing weights were all within a fish of winning but it was Jason Redgrave on Peg 2 fishing positively for the bream, taking two decent specimens, who pipped his nearest rivals by ounces for top spot. Jason fished corn over pellet switching to pinkie for the skimmers. Derek Cullip peg5 who is no stranger to second place kept the roach going all session to put a tidy 10lb 1oz 4dr on the scales. We dared not ask if he lost any! Peg 1 found Martin Paynter kicking himself for pulling out of a match winning bream only minutes before the end, still only 6oz behind the winner shows how tight things were. Section winners this week were: Section A: Steve Durrant (Lime Tree) Peg29 14oz 8dr Pole/Caster & Maggot/Roach Section B: Dave Watson (Lime Tree) Peg7 5lb 7oz 4dr Pole/Maggot/Roach & Rudd Section C: Tony Hobbs (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg9 3lb 9oz 12dr Pole/Maggot & Caster/ Roach Section D: Jamie Jones (Derby Total-Fishing) Peg17 2lb 12oz Pole/Pinkie/ Mixed Bag Section E: Rob Bassett (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg 21 3lb 2oz 8dr Pole/Maggot & Caster/ Roach Section F: Dave Smith (Diawa Dorking) Peg27 4lb 12dr Pole/Bloodworm/ Mixed Bag The last match on Bottom Pool will be 'Float Only' to be held 18th of February 2006. From 25th Feb Matches return to the Larger Middle Lake. The draw will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Contact Pete Palmer 07749 225 880

Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Bottom Pool Napton Warwickshire February 18th Float Only 30 pegs 1st Jason Redgrave (Rugby Tackle) Peg29 40lb 6oz 8dr Waggler/ Corn, maggot & pellet/ Carp & Skimmers 2nd Dave West (Sensas Milton Keynes) Peg16 18lb 8oz 12dr Pole/Caster & Pinkie/ Skimmers & Roach 3rd Ade Williams (Coventry Total-Fishing) Peg18 18lb 6oz 8dr Pole/Red Maggot, Pellet/ Skimmers & Roach Another maximum turnout this week at Dog Lanes' Bottom Pool for a 'Float Only' match attracted anglers from as far away as Derby. However, it was local talent that shone through, notably Jason Redgrave on Peg 29 who went all out to win on the waggler and succeeded. Jason fished corn and red maggot over pellet and was into decent carp from the off, finally putting over 36lb of carp and 3lb plus of skimmers. Dave West on the opposite bank had a busy day, at peg 16, on the pole fishing a very tidy match and just managing to fend of his rivals on pegs 17 and 18 with 18lb 8oz 12dr of skimmers and roach. Ade Williams on peg 18 was one peg and one fish away from second place and put 18lb 6oz 8dr skimmers on the scales. Some notable section weights came through this week and with it being a 'Float Only' match the venue showed what it was capable of for a silvers match. Next week, matches resume on the middle lake where the deeper water creates a greater challenge and demands a wholely different approach. Are you man enough? Section winners this week were: Section A: Pete Palmer (Dog Lane Fishery) Peg2 7lb 9oz 12dr Pole/Caster & Maggot/Roach & Bream Section B: Mark Skeggs (Northampton) Peg5 16lb 15oz Pole/Maggot &Caster/Roach & Rudd Section C: Simon Potter (Rugby) Peg12 12lb 15oz Pole/Maggot & Caster/ Roach Section D: Ian Scone (Derby Total-Fishing) Peg17 17lb 6oz 12dr Pole/Gentlemans Relish/ Skimmers Section E: Ade Lindsay (Derby Total-Fishing) Peg 20 5lb 12oz 4dr Pole/Maggot & Caster/ Roach & Skimmers Section F: Mark Fox (Derby Total-fishing) Peg14 14lb 14oz 4dr Pole/Caster & Chopped worm/ Skimmers & Bream From 25th Feb Matches return to the Larger Middle Lake. The draw will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Contact Pete Palmer 07749 225 880 Jason Redgrave Dave west Mark Skeggs
