Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Bottom Pool Napton Warwickshire February 25th Middle Lake 14 pegs 1st Chris Horsley (Sensas Milton Keynes) Peg52 18lb 15oz 4dr Feeder/Hair Rigged Corn/ Carp & Bream 2nd Rob Bassett (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg50 9lb 7oz 8dr Feeder/Corn & Maggot/Carp Fourteen hardy souls braved the inclement weather this week on Dog Lanes exposed Middle pool, with the winner coming from the more sheltered car park bank. First timer to the venue and in first place was Chris Horsley with 18lb 15oz 4dr from peg 52. Chris alternated between the straight lead and feeder with double hair rigged corn finding the lakes stockies and bigger carp more obliging. Rob Bassett on peg 50 found fish on the feeder, and again it was the stockies that proved to be the takers. With most anglers sitting it out for those one or two bonus fish, few targetted the lakes roach knowing they would only make a section win with silvers. Section winners this week were Lime Tree Park AC fishing partners, Geoff 'Eggo' Eggison and Steve 'Flyer' Durrant. Section winners this week were: Section A: Steve Durrant (Lime Tree Park AC) Peg53 4lb 9oz 12dr Feeder/Corn & Maggot/ small carp & skimmers & roach Section B: Geoff Eggison (Lime Tree Park AC) Peg6 3lb 7oz 4dr Feeder/Maggot/ Small Carp Next weeks match will be held on the more sheltered Bottom Pool and is Float Only. These will continue until the end of March when hopefully the weather will have improved! The draw will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Bottom Pool Napton Warwickshire March 4th Bottom Lake 13 pegs Float Only 1st Steve Water (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg 8 15lb 6oz 4dr Bloodworm & Joker, Caster/Bream & mixed silvers 2nd Steve Hatt (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg 1 9lb Chop & Caster/Perch & Roach There were more Ice Breakers at Dog Lane this week than a Norwegian Fjord, very low temperatures and clear still nights all week had ensured the ice was fit for skating on. Consequently for most it was going to be a one line attack and a single minded approach. Steve Waters on peg8 pondered his chances, nearly joining the ducks whilst breaking the ice. Cupping in joker to kickstart his swim, Steve started catching roach & perch which were obliging for the rest of the session until one of the lakes better Bream pushed in and gave him a few cliffhanger moments on light elastic. Topping up helped to prolong the steady stream of small fish until the next Bream, which was netted quicker this time and put his final weight at 15lb 6oz 4dr. At peg1 fellow Gunsmith Steve Hatt put together a tidy net of Roach and Perch for 9lb which fell to chopped worm and caster. Section A was won by Derek Hammond also of Banbury Gunsmiths at peg 29 2lb 6oz 8dr, whilst Section B was won by Dean Cherrington (Kamasan Starlets) on peg6 who finally got off the deck and found the better stamp of roach at 6 to 9inches off bottom. Section A: Derek Hammond (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg 29 2lb 6oz 8dr Pinkie/Roach Section B: Dean Cherrington (Kamasan Starlets) Peg 5 8lb 12oz Joker & Caster/Roach Next weeks match will be held on the Bottom Pool and is Float Only. These will continue until the end of March. The draw will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Contact Pete Palmer 07749 225 880 www.doglanefishery.co.uk

This comprised of two waggler caught carp for 11lb 2oz and 13lb of skimmers and roach with the odd golden tench for good measure. Second place this week went to Martin Paynter who has started to pay rent on far bank Peg 22 having drawn the peg on all but two of his visits to the pool. Martin found the skimmers at 6 to 8m and fed pellet to their liking for a weight of 17lb 9oz 4dr. Third place fell to Chris Horsley's net of roach and skimmers caught at 8 and 13m from peg27 weighing 16lb 6oz 8dr. Section Winners Section A: Paul Glenfield (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg2 14lb 9oz Waggler & Pole/Carp and Silvers Section B: Steve Nichols (Rugby Tackle) Peg5 10lb 6oz 12dr Pole/ Carp Section C: Derek Hammond (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg9 9lb 7oz Short Pole/ Roach Section D: Steve Fothergill (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg16 8lb 8oz Pole/skimmers Section E: Jamie James (Total-Fishing Derby) Peg19 7lb 7oz Pole & Waggler/skimmers Section F: Mark Fox (Total-Fishing Derby) Peg26 8lb 12oz 8dr Pole/skimmers Next weeks match will be held on the Bottom Pool and is Float Only. Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Bottom Pool Napton Warwickshire March 18th Bottom Lake 25 pegs Float Only 1st Steve Fothergill (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg 27 31lb 10oz 4dr Pole/Bream & Skimmers 2nd Simon Frankland (Northampton) Peg 28 25lb 14oz 4dr Pole/Skimmers 3rd Dean Cherrington (Kamasan Starlets) Peg1 18lb 4oz Pole/Roach & Skimmers Biting cold wind did not stop the Bream showing this week for Banbury Gunsmith's Steve Fothergill fishing the pole and choppie at peg 27. Steve netted several of the lakes better specimens to 6lb taken at 13m using chopped worm laid on to combat the strong tow. Next peg along and Simon Frankland was finding that the bream shoal moved over his line long enough to take over 25lb of them from peg28. Meanwhile, Dean Cherrington at peg1 had to go out to 14m to find the roach and skimmers (18lb+) in the shallower areas of his peg, considering the cross wind this was no mean feat as many others struggled to control their poles. Back up weights for those that could master the wind were very good with sections falling to the following: Section Winners Section A: Jamie Jones (Total-Fishing Derby) Peg30 13lb 14oz 8dr Pole/Skimmers Section B: Danny Ashington (Birmingham) Peg3 9lb 7oz Pole/ Roach & Skimmers Section D: Andy Woods (Lime Tree AC) Peg13 11lb 1oz Pole/skimmers Section E: Tony Hobbs (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg22 5lb 10oz Pole/skimmers Section F: Steve Hatt (Banbury Gunsmiths) Peg23 9lb 8oz 12dr Waggler/skimmers & Chub Next weeks match will be held on the Bottom Pool and is Float Only. Golden peg for next week is £118. April will see the start of a 5 match 'any method' series to be held on the Middle Lake. The draw will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Contact Pete Palmer 07749 225 880 www.doglanefishery.co.uk

The results say it all really! A fine performance from Martin Paynter peg28 who stuck to his plan all match and found the fish wanted corn just 8m from the bank. Steve Hatt made every effort to keep up with him and it could easily have gone his way had he not lost a match winning carp moments from the end. Steve Fothergill on peg 1 suffered the same misfortune as his fellow team mate, only he repeated the experience a few times, as he caught and released four 'slabs' at the net. The fish were all up for it today, the three DNW all caught fish but decided not to weigh in as there were no section payouts this week. Golden peg rollover for next week is £118. April will see the start of a 5 match 'any method' series to be held on the Middle Lake. The draw will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Bottom Pool Napton Warwickshire April 1st Middle Lake 19 pegs 5 Match Series 1st Overall Dean Cherrington (Kamasan Starlets) peg 19 10lb 10oz Carp & Bream /pole/feeder 1st Section A Mark Gee (Baileys Warwick) peg 55 9lb 14oz Carp/Tench /Pole 2nd Section A Jason Redgrave (Rugby Tackle) peg 57 9lb stockies/silvers /pole 1st Section B Geoff Eggison (Lime Tree AC) peg 20 8lb 8oz Stockies/feeder 2nd Section B John Webb (Rugby Tackle) peg 10 8lb 1oz 8dr Stockies/feeder Only the hardy came out on all fools day at Dog Lane this week, where the wind blew hard and the waves rode high forcing most anglers to go for the feeder rod. A hold up in traffic didn’t stop this weeks winner Dean Cherrington from finding the fish. After nearly 3 hours the fish eventually arrived over his 10 ‘Melon Ball’ island of feed and settled there for the remainder of the match. Section A Winner Mark Gee (peg55) used his new Garbolino Pole to secure the second best weight on the lake and was only one stockie short of ‘PolePosition’. Section B Winner Geoff Eggison (peg20) stuck to his feeder and so did the fish most of the time. It was without doubt a very testing day for many who ventured out as the strong wind took it’s toll on anglers resolve….April Fools….possibly. We’ll be back for more next week! Golden peg for next week is £100. April Series of 5 matches 'any method' series to be held on the Middle Lake. The draw will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Middle Lake Napton Warwickshire April 8th Middle Lake 5 Match Series (Match 2) 1st Martin Paynter (Daventry AC) Peg57 96lb 7oz 8dr Pole/ Pellet & Maggot/ Carp & Tench 2nd Pete Palmer (Dog Lane Fishery) Peg19 62lb 6oz 8dr Pole/Paste & Worm/ Carp & Bream 3rd Mark Skeggs (Northampton) Peg10 39lb 5oz Pole & Method/Pellet and Maggot It was a red letter day for the venue regulars that returned to Dog Lane this week, their knowledge of the water and persistence paid off with no weight lower than 17lb 8oz being recorded. Martin Paynter led the way right from the whistle at peg57 and never looked back. Fishing at 3m for most of the match Martin had a steady stream of small carp falling to maggot or pellet. It wasn’t until the last hour that they backed off to 7m where he again caught steadily to the end, putting a brace of tench in the net for good measure. Martin’s final weigh in was 96lb 7oz 8dr and a new venue record. Well done! Second place went to Pete Palmer on the opposite bank at peg19, who adopted similar tactics and put 62lb 6oz 8dr of small carp and three bream that managed to get a look in. Third place was Mark Skeggs from Northampton who drew the dam wall peg10. Alternating between pole and method Mark managed to keep his cool despite four of his pole sections going for an early bath, and weighed in 39lb 5oz of stockies and a skimmer bream. With help from Steve Lavelle the venue bailiff, who held him by his braces, Mark was able to recover his pole sections but it is rumoured adrenaline is brown! The rest of the field all had double figures and will definitely return to see if they can beat the new venue record next week. The golden peg remains unclaimed and stands at £100. The draw for next weeks match will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Contact Pete Palmer 07749 225 880 www.doglanefishery.co.uk

This was Deans second win in as many visits to the middle lake, strange how the temperature drops when the iceman visits….a deserved win nonetheless as his cautious feeding approach proved to be the right choice. Second best weight came from Vince Atkinson on peg 49 on the car-park bank who recorded 21lb 14oz 8dr of small stockies and a couple of skimmer bream. Third best weight was from peg 9 fished by Jason Redgrave 19lb 4oz 8dr of small carp and skimmers. The best quote of the day came from Chris Owen of Northampton who was heard to say, “ I haven’t had a bite for an hour and a half, and now my swims completely dead!” The golden peg remains unclaimed and stands at £100. The draw for next weeks match will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Contact Pete Palmer 07749 225 880 www.doglanefishery.co.uk

Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Middle Lake Napton Warwickshire April 22nd Middle Lake 15 pegs 5 Match Series (Match 4) 1st Jason Redgrave (Rugby Tackle) peg17 46lb 8oz 8dr Short-pole/Carp & Bream 2nd Ian Ford (Rugby) peg57 29lb 2oz 8dr Pole/Carp & Bream 3rd Mark Skeggs (Northampton) Peg55 22lb 3oz 8dr Pole/Carp & Bream. The winning method this week was single corn over pellet employed by venue regular Jason Redgrave of Rugby Tackle. Jason chose to fish short at 3m from the bank and accumulated a weight of 46lb 8oz 8dr of stockies and bream. Second place went to Ian Ford from Rugby fishing 11m at peg 57. Ian found the fish obliging in short bursts of activity throughout the match weighing in 29lb 2oz 8dr. Third placed Mark Skeggs was at neighbouring peg55 and found this sporadic feeding pattern was also happening in his swim. Nonetheless this did not stop him from putting 22lb 3oz 8dr on the scales. The rest of the chasing field were not far behind all recording double figures with seven weights needing only one fish more to frame. The winners pot for next week is guaranteed at £166 provided the winner has attended three of the last four matches. Additionally the golden peg remains unclaimed and stands at £100, this could mean that the winner of next weeks match stands to win in excess of £300. The draw for next weeks match will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 4:30pm. Additional Mid-week matches will be held from mid May and will be three hour matches light permitting. Contact Pete Palmer 07749 225 880 www.doglanefishery.co.uk

Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Middle Lake Napton Warwickshire April 29th Middle Lake 16 pegs 5 Match Series (Match 5) 1st Chris Horsley (Milton Keynes MG) peg49 52lb 4½oz pole/pellet/Carp, Tench & Bream 2nd Jason Redgrave (Rugby Tackle) peg19 37lb 1½oz Pole/Red Maggot/Carp, Tench & Bream 3rd Vince Atkinson (Rugby Tackle) Peg3 32lb 12oz Pole/Maggot/Carp & Bream. Making a fruitful return to Dog Lane this week Chris Horsley (Milton Keynes MG) found the fish were at 14m, taking expander pellet over micro-pellet. The fish came steadily all match helping Chris to raise 52lb 4½oz to the scales to take first place. Second best weight of the day went to Jason Redgrave (Rugby Tackle) fishing 11m at peg 19. Jason took Tench, Carp and Bream on red maggot over pellet and groundbait to weigh in 37lb 1½oz. Third placed Vince Atkinson (Rugby Tackle) was on the dam wall peg3 and started the match at a quick pace putting together a good run of small carp for the first few hours on pellet and maggot. For the rest of the match Vince had to content himself with the odd bream and small carp to finish the match with 32lb 12oz. Over the series the most consistent angler and worthy winner of the Accumulator pot was Jason Redgrave. It is rumoured that as the rising venue expert a new column ‘Getting it Pegged with Jason’ will be appearing on the Dog Lane website. The golden peg remains unclaimed and stands at £110. Match Report Dog Lane Fishery Middle Lake Napton Warwickshire May 6th Middle Lake 16 pegs The day ½oz was worth pounds more. Drawing the Golden and End peg 9 on the dam wall at Dog Lane, Dave West (Sensas Milton Keynes), couldn't be seen for dust as he sped out the Pub Car Park. His speedy exit was tempered by his slow and methodical hour and a half setting up. Dave was into fish straight away from the whistle, but so too was neighbour Vince (Rugby Tackle) Atkinson on peg 7. Matching each other fish for fish, and each angler looking but not looking at the others progress... The weigh in was a shocker for both of them..... Dave was first to weigh with 32lb 11oz of carp and 10lb 10oz of Bream. Vince weighed in 26lb 13½oz of carp and 16lb 8oz of Bream.....oooouuch! One roach, one gudgeon, one perch one half ounce away from £160....well fished Dave and hard luck. Vinny ‘The Bandit’ Atkinson was beside himself with remorse….not! Third place was Tony Hobbs (Banbury Gunsmiths) peg 49 with 35lb 4½oz of pole caught carp and bream. Fourth Chris Horsely (Sensas Milton Keynes) Peg 53 30lb 1oz carp and bream Fifth Pete Palmer (Dog Lane Fishery) Peg 55 21lb 9oz bream and carp The only other downside to the day was the rain...oh and for some bizarre reason people thought we weren't running any more matches on Saturdays? ? The golden peg remains unclaimed and stands at £110. The draw for next weeks match will be at the Kings Head Napton 9am and fishing from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Golden peg goes at Dog Lane Today the Golden went to a worthy winner and venue regular Chris Hoarsley (Sensas Milton Keynes). Fishing pellet at 7m and from the end peg 58 on the car park bank Chris weighed in 47lb 1½oz of carp to 3lb and 13lb 13oz of Bream for a winning total of 60lb 14½oz. Second place was Dave West (Sensas Milton Keynes) on peg 50 with 45lb 3½oz of carp and skimmers caught at 7m and 11m on pellet. Third was Pete Palmer (Dog Lane Fishery) on peg 54 with 42lb 1½oz of Tench and Bream and other silvers all caught on top two and expanders. Next match on the lake tomorrow is Warwick Portobello and it will be interesting to see if they can raise the crossbar, as they have taken the whole lake. Wednesday Evening open will be fished from 5:45pm until 8:45pm book on with Ray Gregory...see www.doglanefishery.co.uk for details. Next Saturday book on with Pete Palmer. 077 49 225 880
